In BASIC
SEARCH whole sentences or keywords may be entered.

In ADVANCE
SEARCH whole sentences in addition to keywords may be entered.

A question
sentence may also be used.

Choose full
text to retrieve the complete article. Choose SORT
BY date to see the most current article listed first or relevance
to list the articles that closely match your search first.

The pull down
menu provides other sorting options.

DOCUMENT TYPE
and PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION may be selected to have the search select a specific
type of document.
Once a search is initiated:
-
Documents are
listed by relevance.
-
Click the
full text link to see the complete article.
-
The complete
article is retrieved.
-
E-mail,
print, and save options are available.
-
Your search
terms are noted at the top of the page.
The thesaurus option will
provide variations on your search term.
The BROWSE option will
search a specific term in one of the chosen fields.
ERIC
ERIC may be accessed through EBSCOHOST or through
the its' own link under 'Indexes with Abstracts" on the "CCNY Library Reference
and Research "page.
In EBSCOHOST select ERIC by checking the box next to the ERIC database and click
continue. When you access ERIC through its own link on the CCNY Library
Reference and Research page, just click the ERIC link.

Contained in ERIC
are number of publication types.

ERIC Digests
are: short reports (1,000 - 1,500 words) on topics of prime current interest in
education.

ERIC journals
are not full text in this database. Abstracts are provided.
Searching
-
In the search
box type your search terms using Boolean indicators and click submit.
-
You
may select a publication type or search the complete database.
Some ERIC journals are full
text when you search within EBSCOHOST Premier Database. Full text of the article
must be found on the bound periodicals shelf. ERIC digest articles are full
text. You have the option to save the article to a disk using the browser pull
down file menu.
