  Part II. Your Assignment
  Please describe the type of library research you are requiring of your students and what you are hoping your students will learn from this session. Students should be familiar with the requirements of the assignment before they come to a library instruction session. Successful library instruction is based on students having an actual research assignment and knowing what that assignment is before they come for the library session.*
   
 

 



  Part III. Instruction Session Options
 

 

   1. Library Research Basics & Tour - 1 hour 15 minutes (no hands-on practice).
  • Introduction to City College Library Collection and Services.
  • Finding books in CUNY+ - demo only
  • Finding articles - demo only.
 
  2. Searching Basics - 1 hour 15 minutes (includes hands-on activities).
  • Finding books in CUNY+.
  • Finding articles (databases).
  • Remote Access.
  • Interlibrary loan.
 
  3. Subject databases - 1 hour 15 minutes (includes hands-on activities).
  • How to search subject related databases.
  • Scholarly and peer reviewed journals.
  • Remote Access.
 
  4. Library Basics and Web Searching- 1 hour 15 minutes.
  • Basics of library research.
  • Finding books in CUNY+.
  • Finding articles.
  • Ordering articles through ILL.
  • Finding useful Web pages.
  • Evaluating pages.
 
 
 5. Specialized sessions - 1 hour 15 minutes.
    Instructors work directly with a librarian to create sessions geared to specialized library assignments, to learn only a specific database, or to review unique resources.

 

 
Once the form is submitted, your request will be referred to the appropriate librarian. The librarian will then contact you to discuss your particular assignment and session. Please give us a call if you have any questions.
